Dressed in our Sunday Best

Easter clothes were always a tradition in my family. We always got a new dress for Easter. So, we go Easter shopping. We ended up with some really great deals at Burlington Coat Factory. There are tons and tons of really cute clothes for girls. There was a total of two outfits for Brantley. One was this adorable three piece suit. Yes, I know that he is only 7 months and yes, I know that he crawls and does not walk but I couldn't help it. The other outfit was a pair of blue pin stripe pants with a vest and long tie. It was three dollars more than this one.

It was three dollars more than this one. I guess that is what I get when he doesn't fit nine month clothes any more. I have decided that we need to go to a wedding in these clothes...hey we have one coming up next weekend.
And like all picture sessions at my house it fell into complete chaos! Charlie just loves to play tickle monster. Brantley does too.
That is his "okay mom, I have had enough of my ever loving big sister" look.

Coloring Easter Eggs

This wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I have never let Charlie color eggs b/c she is a bit high maintenance. I just knew that she would spill the color all over and then I would really have a mess.
While Charlie colored eggs Brantley ate. He is really good at this now that is has his first tooth peeking through. We found it on Sunday.

Charlie had a great time. Her favorite colored egg was of course PINK!

You are the best

The September after I had Charlie I attended the ECAO (Early Childhood Association of Oklahoma) Annual Conference at UCO (University of Central Oklahoma). At this conference the Keynote speaker was a lady by the name of Maryann Harmon. She introduced me to this wonderful book by Dr. Becky Bailey. As well as purchasing this book I also purchased many of her CD's. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. It really helps me when I am so frustrated with Charlie. The idea is that you use or create your own rituals that show your kids that you love them. Anyway, I just love her (Mar Harmon's) Music. I had to have become an early childhood educator because I love kids music so much. On one of her Cd's she has the this song called your the best. Charlie belted out with it at dinner time:
You're the best mommy in the world.
I'm so glad your my girl
I love you so
and in case you didn't know
your the best mommy in the world.

It just made my day. I know that sometimes I feel really silly singing all this "kids" stuff but it sure made my day today. So, just in case you haven't be told today...
You are the best _______ (mommy, sister, friend, grandma, cousin, ...) in the world.
Oh, and on a side note here is Mar's website...you should check out some of her stuff. We have Music w/ Mar, More music w/ Mar, Mr. Froggy's family, songs at my fingertips, songs for a great day. Songs for a great day has the song mentioned above as well as the clean up blues (great song folks). http://musicwithmar.com/shop/index.php?cPath=21

Cousin'ing

I read that word in an kids article years ago and it has just stuck. Cousining--action verb--The act of playing/spending time with your cousins. I would have to say that is Charlie's favorite thing to do. Cousining--The act of playing with your cousins. At any particular time t cousining he cousins do not have to be similar or enjoy similar things to enjoy. I thought that was interesting. The article also talked about how it didn't matter how long goes between the time that two cousins see each other it is always instant friends for that moment in time even if they would not be friends if they were not cousins. We say two of the three Browning boys Wednesday Night. Brantley was so incredibly sweet with Cale. Cale was crying. Brantley crawls over to him and starts rubbing his head. He leaned down and slobbered on his head. (In baby language that is it's okay, how about a kiss.)
Now Charlie on the other hand, she and Gant wouldn't eat dinner. Who can be bothered with eating when there are grand adventures to go on? The two of them played out in the front yard for 3 1/2 hours. When I showed up after 2 1/2 hours Charlie told me to go home she wasn't ready to go yet. Now if that doesn't sound like a good dose of cousining I don't know what is.

Medieval Fair

Last weekend we went to Norman to the Medieval Fair. We had a lot of fun. And I did not get one picture of the kids in the stroller. How crazy is that? I guess I will have to take their pictures with their shield and sword. We are going to paint a dragon this afternoon so that Charlie will have something to fight instead of her little brother. He didn't fair to well the last time she pretend he was the dragon. She knocked his head into the concrete and made him bleed. When I asked her what she was doing, she simply replied I'm slaying the dragon mommy. Mommy said that Brantley can no longer be the dragon and there will be no slaying of your brother.

Forgot one

Scene: The gym with friends
Lucas: Hey Charlie, let's watch Scooby-dooby-doo
Charlie: Yeah, Let's watch Scooby! Scooby-dooby-doo Where are you? We got some work to do. Lucas: I'll be Shaggy. You can be Velma.
Charlie: No (at this point I thought sure, every one wants to be the pretty daphne, even my girl). I'll be Scooby!
I just love this girl!

Through Charlie's eyes

Scene: Standing in line in Subway
Charlie: Excuse me lady, What is that thing on your face?
Lady: It's an eyebrow ring. Isn't it pretty.
Charlie: No.
(Do you think I can remind her of this later in life?)

Scene: Bathroom at Mc Donald's (they have some of the cleaner bathrooms when you are on the road)
Charlie: Hey mom, I farted again.
Me: Charlie remember that it is not polite to talk about your farts in public.
Charlie: Oh, yeah I forgot. But remember we ate beans yesterday mom so now we are all a farting family.

Really, why do I even try with the manners. Some of the things that come out of her mouth I just don't know what to say.
