teething!

I hate teething! Brantley woke up this morning with a low grade fever and diarrhea. And a new tooth. He has one more that is almost through. Why is it that my kids cut teeth in pairs? I guess I should be thankful that the fussyness and the hold me's only come in ones.

Laughter and suprise

Charlie has discovered knock knock jokes.
Knock, knock
Who's there?
panties.
Panties who?
Hey, don't eat my panties for breakfast!

Knock, knock
Who's there?
Flower.
Flower who?
Do you want those flowers for lunch?

And all of this is followed by the silliest laugh that just makes me laugh.

Now for the surprise. I got an email this morning that a scrapbook project (my kids' bless you cards) is going to be published as a tutorial in a new christian scrapbooking magazine. Their first edition will come out in August I think. I will be published in their winter edition. Here is their website. www.cpcmag.com

No kissing Boys!

We were at church Sunday. Charlie went up to her friend Thomas. I knew she was going to hug him. She has a tendency to be a little overbearing at times so I told her. "Remember to ask, first." We have really been working with her at home about not getting in other people's personal space without asking first. So, she asks, "Thomas, can I have a kiss." And then she kissed him right on the cheek. Okay, that was so not what I meant. Now we have to have the conversation about her being way to young to be kissing on any boys other than her family.

Excuse me, would you like to try again?

I think that is my reaction to Charlie. Tonight I tossed her cup to her in bed hitting her on the foot. She said, "excuse me, Mommy. Would you like to try again? And how about a little easier this time." I was laughing so hard that I actually said yes! I went into her room grabbed her cup went back to the door and tossed it to her in bed. This time I made sure that I did not hit her. I guess all the times that I want to ring her little neck because I don't think she is listening she really is. Why else would she ask if I would like to try again?

My kiddos

I love that these two love to play together. I know that at one point Charlie will scream when Brantley comes in her room. But for now this is what I get...

Martin Nature Park

Last year when I scheduled our class field trip to Martin Nature Park I scheduled it on a day when the park was closed. Yes, I am a dork. Yes, teachers (parents, people) make mistakes.

This is one of my favorite areas. This is an area that when the creek is down you can actually climb across the rocks and explore. I really need to take Charlie out here.

Here is a picture of my kids and their wonderful, amazing, awesome parents looking at the 1st picture and begging to go across the rocks.

Some of the huge wildlife that we spotted. There were tons of turtles. They even got to touch one.

This year was the perfect day. It has been raining off and on for weeks. It even rained Wednesday evening but Wednesday morning was the perfect day to go.

How cool is this. We saw tons of geese with their goslings. We had a great time!

i-photo

OM GOODNESS! I am in LOVE. I am sitting here working on my annual Pre-K video. I have over 1,000 pictures that I took this year. The sad thing is I really didn't take many pictures this year. Any way, I am in LOVE with my new i-photo. I was able to take all of my SJN pictures and place them in an event and it places them in chronological order and I drug them to I-DVD and I am almost done friends. This is so much easier than my 20 hours last year or the 2 weeks the year before and what about the month that it took me to make a disc 4 years ago. I so love technology. At least for today I do.

Brilliant

I am writing this through rose colored glasses. My three-year old is brilliant. Yes, I know all moms say that but really she is. Here is my proof:

Yesterday:
"Mom, can I have some paper and pencil so I can calculate?"
Yes, she used the word calculate. When I asked her if she knew what that meant she said she needed to make sure she had enough money in her piggy bank to go to sonic. I had to laugh. She didn't get her piggy bank out she just had to calculate.

Today:
She walked into my classroom and said, "Oh Daddy, soil. Can I dig in it?"

What three-year old asks if she can dig in the soil instead of the dirt? That would be my brilliant three year old.
You know, the one that at barley 2 said after hitting a little boy who hit her back, "Well, that's my constwences for hitting him huh mom."

Turtle soup and the three little pigs

At my house we eat some very strange dishes. We have a dish that we call turtle soup. No we do not eat turtles that is just the name. It is one box of Velveta shells and cheese, 1/2 lb of ground turkey, and frozen peas. It became known as turtle soup. Recently I created a new dish. 1 box of shells and cheese, 3 sticks of smoked sausages cut into pieces, broccoli, and fresh cooked mushrooms. I have been racking my brain to create a name. Tonight we have it. Charlie has been playing the three little pigs in the back yard with her "friends" (all of which are imaginary). And tonight it hit. I do use three links of sausage and there you have it. Three little Pigs for dinner.

A little more lonely

Growing up in a military home for 10 years I was use to moving every three years. I was use to not having family close. So when my mom moved to Florida the middle of my senior year and I moved to Oklahoma for college I thought that I could handle not being near family. Most days I am fine. Today is not one of those. I want to be with my brother in North Carolina. I want to be with my mom in Florida. Instead, I am just a little more lonely than I would like to be. Friends, please pray for my sister-in-law Nancy.

My Teacher Hat

Sometimes I really wish I could take off my teacher hat. It always seems to come on it the strangest places and embarrasses me to no end. "Hey kid in Wal-mart. I saw you stick that piece of candy in your pocket that was stealing. Where is your mother?" Or "Don't forget to use soap and water." But this one just made me laugh. See this beautiful 8 tiered cake. Yes, 8 tiered cake. I was sitting at a table near. There was my table on it's right vertical and another to it's left that was horizontal. Here come the kids playing chase around the horizontal table bumping the table with the wedding cake. On goes the teacher hat. "Do you see this table?" Blank stare. "What do you think will happen if you hit the table again?" Blank stare. "You can not play chase." Blank stare. "Slow down." Blank stare. "Don't play chase near the cake." Blank stare. Oh, I forgot to tell you. They don't speak English.

Catholic Wedding

Here is my family waiting for the wedding of two very good friends Izzy and Paola(paula) that Dusty works with at the Olive Garden. They are wonderful people.

And the wedding was just beautiful.I have always heard about how beautiful but long Catholic weddings were. Having taught at St. John's for five years now I kind of know what to expect when it comes to Mass. I even know when to stand, sit, kneel and what to say. There was only one thing wrong with this Catholic Wedding. It was in Spanish.

Art Festival

Here we are leaving the Art Festival. I love it. Charlie did too. Brantley on the other hand was just along for the ride. He is such a great kid.

So here is the funniest thing about this weekend. I found out that Charlie has NO CLUE how to roll down a hill. I did not think that was a skill that needed to be taught. Apparently it is. We will be working on this this summer. She was so funny. She kept rolling sideways on the hill instead of down it.

This was a very cool dragon. It was called creation station but Charlie loved tying bands on the dragon and running through it along with every other kid.
